Maize

New toolkit available

FFI recently launched a communications toolkit with resources to advocate for folic acid fortification of corn masa

When focusing on countries that FFI considers a good opportunity for maize flour fortification (adjusted), the supply of maize increased in 2024 by 3.9 tons (5%), but only a slight portion of that supply (0.5%) was industrially processed. There was no change in the proportion of fortified maize flour, but when compared to the volume of fortified maize flour in 2023, there was a slight increase of 0.4%.
